It's that time of year.  Fairs are happening all over the USA.  Right now, we have a large one going on called The Big E.  It is a fair for all of New England.  We go every year to visit the state buildings.  Each state in New England has their own building, and can showcase the greatness of their state.  Maine is a particular favorite of ours because they make the best baked potatoes!!

Along with the state buildings, we eat, and eat, and eat!!  What's better then yummy but probably bad for you foods??  Now you can make your own fair foods at home, and eat the good stuff all year long.

I love maple.  I love donuts.  Put the two together, and yum!!  In the cookbook is a recipe for Maple Bacon Donuts.  I vetoed the bacon, and made my own "donuts."  Without a donut pan, I made doffins!!  They were a little more cake like then donut, but they were really yummy!!

There are many other recipes to choose from.  The best voted foods from all over.  The one thing the book doesn't share, is where the foods are most popular.  I would love if they had given some history as to where those items are from and how they started.

All in all, there are many recipes we will be trying in this house!!

National Geographic Books Keep Kids Learning All Summer Long!! ~~Giveaway~~ @NGKidsBks

I have to be honest and say that for the longest time I was a little weirded out by Sci-Fi Romance books.  I wasn't sure that I would like them.  I was so used to romance books set in modern day or historical settings.  I was not sure if I would like mystical creatures being the love interest in my books.

I have read a couple series now, and I have to say that I do like them a lot.  Of course it all depends on the writer, and Lolita Lopez does an excellent job.  In both stories, you learn about two different species of man/dragons, and what they must go through in order to survive.  

Lolita keeps the story interesting and makes the books more then just love stories, but stories with true mystical plots and many characters you come to know and love.  I can not wait to read more from Lolita and more in this series.

I give these stories 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

"Once She Was Tempted" By Anne Barton Book Review

Daphne want's to keep a big secret safe for her families sake, and she will do almost anything to keep it. Before her family became members of the ton, Daphne had to have some personal paintings of herself made in order to pay her Mothers medical bills. Now that things are better for all of them, and her Sister is happily married, Daphne needs to make sure the paintings don't fall into the wrong hands.

Benjamin, The Earl of Foxburn, fell in love with the mystery lady as soon as he set eyes on her.  When Ben meets Daphne in real life, he instantly knows she is the one from his painting, the one with the sapphire eyes that haunt him.  His friend, Lord Biltmore, is smitten with Daphne.  Ben knows that if her secret ever comes out, it could ruin Lord Biltmore.  Ben strikes up a deal with Daphne, that he will keep her secret safe, if she stays away from Biltmore, and he will also help her find another item that could hurt her.

Along the way Ben and Daphne start to feel something for each other, but they both are unsure what the future holds for them.

I really liked this book a lot.  Anne Bartons writing style keeps you engaged and makes the book a page turner.  I also love how she adds in some terrific surprises and twists a long the way that you would not see coming!!

I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

The beginning of this book is really sad.  It starts out with the reason why Sophia and Claxton are separated and the pain they each go through.  There were quite a few parts where I had tears in my eyes.

Sophia has spent the last 7 months away from Claxton trying to piece her life back together.  She is surrounded by her family but has kept her separation a secret from them.  At her Grandfathers birthday party, Claxton suddenly reappears and makes emotions come back to the surface.  In an attempt to escape Claxton, Sophia runs off to his Mothers abandoned home not knowing he soon would follow.

Sophia and Claxton find themselves caught in a blizzard and stuck in the home together.  Claxton tries to make the best of things, and help Sophia remember the good times and how much the two are in love.

There are a lot of trials the pair must go through, and quite a few funny parts including a duel, a couple of ill timed affairs, and an adventures quest!!

All in all if you are looking for a feel good book with a lot of love, you must check out Never Desire A Duke!!

I love the Highlander series.  I have read all of the books.  Margaret Mallory has a great writing style that makes her books page turners!!

In this book you get to see the love story of Moira and Duncan.

They were childhood sweethearts, even though Duncan was of lower class the Moira.  Their love affair was secret, but when it finally becomes known, Duncan is given the choice of going off to fight, or staying home and not being with Moira.  He chooses to fight, so as not to feel the pain of watching her marry another.

Moira is in love with Duncan, but with her past history of acting like a spoiled princess, her father doesn't believe her until it's too late.  Duncan is gone, and Moira is arranged to marry another equal class Highlander.  

You then flash forward 7 years, and you get to see the lives Duncan and Moira have lived separately.  Duncan has proven himself time and time again as a perfect warrior.  Moira has lived a life of hell.  

When Moira's husband takes things too far, Moira is rescued by the one person she never thought she would see again, Duncan.

This was a terrific action packed book that I could not put down.  

If you love Margaret Mallory and the books about the Highlanders of Scotland, you will love this one!!
