TEXAS ROADS by CATHY BRYANT REVIEW AND **GIVEAWAY**

"Dani Davis just wants a place to call home. With quaint country charm, quirky residents, and loads of business potential, Miller's Creek, Texas seems like the perfect place to start over. . .except for the cowboy who gives her a ride into town. Dani secretly finances renovations to downtown, but malicious rumors force her to choose between keeping her involvement a secret and the home for which she's always longed. Then a devastating discovery propels her down a road she never expected to travel.

Cowboy mayor Steve Miller is determined to rescue his dying hometown. When vandals threaten the renovation, he can't help but suspect Dani, whose strange behavior has become fodder for local gossips. Can he and Dani call a truce for a higher cause, and in the process, help Dani realize the true meaning of home?"

My good friend Henrietta at A Hen's Nest is having a giveaway of this book. I read the interview she did with Cathy Bryant, the author, and I really liked the story line, and Cathy's passion for the book.

I entered the giveaway and wrote that I would love to read the book and do a review.
To my very happy eyes, I received an email from Cathy herself.

Cathy said she would love to send me a copy of the book to review. I gave her my information, and she sent the book right out. I got it three days later!!
I was very honored to open the book to see that she signed it for me!! I have never had an author signed book before!!!!
I absolutely love to read, but with two kids, my reading hours are limited to when they are in bed!!

So Monday night I sat down to read some of the book. I figured I would get a couple chapters in before bed.
Instead I read the whole thing!!! I was soooooooo engrossed I couldn't put it down!!!
The story starts with a women named Danielle (Dani for short.) She has never really fit into her life in Dallas with her parents.
In the last years time, she had quite a few emotional tolls that made her decide to start fresh.
She goes to visit her Mother's Sister who she has never met in a small town called Millers Creek.

Now for anyone who lives in a small town, you know how everyone knows everything about everyone else!!! Dani wasn't used to that. She really has to adjust.
Steve Miller is the mayor of the town and one of Dani's Aunts (Mama Beth) friends.
He is a 38 year old single man with a long family tie to the town. He is trying really hard to fix the town up to its original glory.

Steve is also dealing with alot of emotional issues in his life.

Dani and Steve's paths cross and they become friends. Dani tries to help Steve and the town repair and grow.
There are alot of struggles for both of them through out the book, including a death, major surgery and a couple very large surprises.

I don't want to give too much away. All I can say is that I absolutely loved this book.

Cathy keeps the reader at the edge of their seat at all times waiting to see what happens next.

I was sooo pulled to these characters that I felt like I was there dealing with their pain and troubles.
I cried at least half a dozen times!!
This is a true family story with alot of heart.
If you would like to purchase Texas Roads, you can get it at Amazon for $12.99.

A story rich with Texas traditions and values. It's as sweet as a piece of pie from a small-town diner. Full of interesting characters and heartbreaking secrets, Texas Roads is a good read.
~ Lenora Worth, author of Hometown Princess and The Perfect Gift

Cathy Bryant has done it! Texas Roads is a spell-binding tale that will grab you on page one and won’t turn you loose until you’ve read The End. Sadness and grief are superbly balanced with uplifting joy, and when you add this one to your Keepers Shelf, you’ll feel as though you’ve met spunky Dani Davis and handsome cowboy Steve Miller in person. If I were doling out stars, I’d give Cathy four for this one!
~ Loree Lough, author of 75 award-winning books, including Love Finds You in North Pole, Alaska

A wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable love story. Cathy's folksy descriptions had me chuckling aloud and her plot twists rooting for the main characters through all their trials and emotional travails. It's a story that will touch your heart and make you long to live in the lovely Texas setting with the realistic and heroic characters that Cathy has created. Five stars and "two thumbs up!
~ Marlayne Giron, author of The Victor

Cathy Bryant spins a tale of dangerously romantic Texas cowboys and hurting school marms with twenty-first century panache. I could hear the twang all the way up in Wisconsin.
~ Lisa Lickel, author of Healing Grace and Meander Scar

Cathy has generously offered one of my readers their very own copy of Texas Roads.

To enter the giveaway you MUST-

1. Be a Follower of my blog AND be a follower of Cathy's blog.
(make sure you leave your email address in your entry)

WHAT IS GOING ON LATELY WITH BLOG PROBLEMS??

Yesterday I couldn't get pictures up, and now today comments wont post!!! I have tried 20 times to post comments for my Trivia Tuesday, and it wont let me. Please bare with me on that and I hopefully will be able to announce a winner tomorrow!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Is anyone else finding this very annoying??

Also I noticed that I have lost a couple followers. (10 to be exact)

I hope this is an error from the crazy Internet bugs, and not because people want to leave me :( I would never do that to someone else!!

I have become a follower of a couple sites with Friday Follow, and then had to go back and be their follower at least two more times.

Very frustrating!!!

BASKET BLOG HOP FOR A BETTER CAUSE

My good Friend Courtney at Coo Coo Courtney sent me this.

I am honored to be a part of such a good cause.

Here is some information on the Hershey's Better Basket Blog Hop:

This Easter season Hershey is all about helping you to create Better Easter Baskets with their special limited edition Easter candies found at Walmart.
More importantly, Hershey wants to promote the idea of going good in our own communities. The Hershey Company is committed to making a difference in the communities where we live in, and has a heritage of giving back to the community.

Thanks to Hershey's and 20 different bloggers looking to blog for a good cause, baskets like the one above were created and given to charities of each bloggers choice to spread Hershey's ongoing message around: We are ALL working together to do good in and out of our own communities!

In addition to those 20 baskets donated to charity, Hershey's is also sponsoring a Better Basket Blog Hop where Hershey will donate $10 per blog post entry for the Children's Miracle Network, up to $5,000. Amazing.
Now that you know what this cause is all about please join in and post about this! It's for a great cause!

I'm passing this Easter Basket on to a couple of my favorite blogs!! In no order what so ever-

1. Bustermama
2. Button's and Bows
3. Everything Up Close
4. Maverick's Mommy
5. Home Grown Families
If you want to be apart of the blog hop, here are the rules:

Copy and paste these rules to your blog post.

Create a blog post giving a virtual Easter Basket to another blogger – you can give as many Virtual Baskets as you want.
Link back to person who gave you an Easter Basket.

Let each person you are giving a Virtual Easter Basket know you have given them a Basket.

Leave your link at BetterBasket.info/BlogHop comment section. You can also find the official rules of this #betterbasket blog hop, and more information about Better Basket with Hershey’s there.

Hershey’s is donating $10 per each blog participating to the Better Basket Blog Hop to Children’s Miracle Network (up to total of $5,000 by blog posts written by April 4th, 2010).

Please note that only one blog post by each blog url will count towards the donation

TRIVIA TUESDAY GAME WEEK 5

Congrats last week to Buster's Mama. She doubled her money!! I forgot to post about it.

Good luck all this week. I think the questions are pretty easy this time!!!
As most of you know by now, I am a HUGE GAME FAN!!!! I love to play games of all kinds.

Sunday's we go candle pin bowling at the local alley. It's great because it's .50 cents a game!!!

Other days we stay at home and play Risk, Uno, Play Station 2 or Wii.

Before kids, My Husband and I and best friend Chris would play Risk through the night. We were soooooo competitive!!! I was always evil and made secret alliances with both Ben (my Husband) and Chris. We would take turns ganging up on each other. I always seemed too loose though!! :(

I am also an 80's child. I love everything to do with the 80's including trivia!!

So in spirit of my blog title, lets have some more FUN!!!!

I personally love to play games, and win prizes. So I am going to combine the two!!

My question to you all is, Who wants to win a buck or two??

Each week I am going to post a couple questions from my Trivial Pursuit Game (the 80's version!!!)
The first person to comment on the post with the correct answers will win $1!!

Now I know what you are thinking. Wow a whole dollar!! I can retire!!!!

I cant just leave it at that. So we are going to make it a little more interesting.

The person who answers the trivia questions correctly first, will have the chance to double their money!!!

If they want to take a chance, I will give them another trivia question. If they get the answer right (they are the only ones allowed to answer) then they double their winnings to $2!!!

If they get the answer wrong, they loose all winnings. :(

OK, again I know what you are thinking. All this work just for $2??

Not Quite!!!

I am going to play this game for 12 weeks ending on May 18th.

Now the person who wins the most, will also get another prize at the end of the game!!! I haven't decided what yet, but I will let you know.

How does that sound??

Now I do have to post some rules. (Sorry!!)

1. You MUST be a Follower of my blog (I will check)

2. An EMAIL address HAS to be in your comment (I need to contact you if you win) If it isn't in your comment, then you answers are void. I hate to see you do all that work and not even have a chance to win!!! So please make sure your email is there!!!

3. If you choose to DOUBLE your money, you have TWO HOURS to respond with an answer to the next trivia question, that will be EMAILED to you. If you don't respond with-in that time frame, I have to assume you don't know the answer. I will do my best to post at the same time each week, so you know when to expect the trivia questions!!

4. If you DOUBLE your money, and win, that counts as two wins. So at the end of the game, if you win twice, and double twice, you have 4 entries in the final prize!!

5. Have fun!!! I know I will!!!!

So here are this weeks Trivia Questions. Good luck!!!! I will give you one question from each category on the Trivial Pursuit Card. The Wild Card question will be saved for the winner if they choose to Double!!!!

1. (Headlines) What U.S. federal agency had 11,000 job openings in August 1981, after striking workers were abruptly sacked?

2. (T.V) Which member of the "Rat Pack" served as guest host of the Tonight show a record 177 times?

3. (Movies) What 1987 film had Barbara Streisand playing a call girl fighting to prove her mental competence?

4. (Music) What Hubby of Roseanne Cash scored five number-one singles off his Diamonds and Dirt Album?

5. (Sports and Leisure) Who did Martina Navratilova defeat in 10 Grand Slam singles finals?

Good Luck!!!!!

Make Me Laugh Monday 3/29/10

Yeah I have been trying to post this for 4 hours now!!!

I love these pictures. I have to give my Husband credit. He found them for me!!!

This first picture is of a lady going into a public restroom in Houston. If you notice the outside is all mirrors.

Then when you enter the inside, you realize that it is made out of one way glass. People cant see in, but you can see out!! It feels like you are pottying in public!!! How neat is that?

This is a bathroom at a famous party house (not sure where) This is actually painted on their floor!!

Now imagine having alittle too much to drink and walking in here!!

This last picture is of a ceiling in a smokers lounge. I bet this makes you think twice about lighting up!!!

ANNOYED...ANGRY...FURIOUS...HAIR PULLING!!!

I have attempted 8 times to upload my pictures for my Make Me Laugh Monday Post.

They WONT SHOW UP!!!!

I am not getting any pictures in anyone else's posts that I am reading on Google Reader either.

Is anyone else having trouble??

I tried restarting the computer, cleaning out cookies (not just the ones in my cookie jar either) and punching the chair!!

NOTHING IS WORKING!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

AMAZING RACE FANTASY GAME

I doubt I could say those islands names properly either!!!

The Helicopter ride sounds awesome!!! I love those views!!!

I don't like Brent and Caite in first place. They didn't earn it!!

Wow both challenges sound hard. I think I would do the ox one!!

Brent and Caite lost a coconut. That's not good!!

Those turtles are huge and old!!

I love how Dan and Jordan's Ox took care of business!!

Steve and Allie didn't bring their backpacks. That was not wise!!

Brent throws hissy fits like a little kid!!!

Carol and Brandy had a hard time with that turtle!!

Jet and Cord dropped a coconut too!! I don't understand why they aren't paying really close attention!!!

Awesome prizes for Steve and Allie!!! I need a massage!!!

Carol and Brandy dropped one too!!

Poor Louie and Michael coming in 4th!!!

Brent and Caite are quite silly!!

Today's episode was just full of errors. Jet and Cords was pretty big though!

I cant believe they didn't take the map out of the bottle. What a silly mistake!!

Lucky for Jet and Cord that this was a non elimination leg.

On that note, I don't have to eliminate anyone!!!

SURVIVOR FANTASY GAME

I love the rope puzzle challenges. They are alot of fun!!! Too bad both teams go to tribal though!!

You would think the big guys would have trouble with this but James is doing well.

I was mad that Candace won. That is not good news for Colby!!

Good for Boston Rob!! I am glad he won although he doesn't need it!!!

Rob won Hotdogs for the tribe too!! That was nice!!!

I still get soooooo annoyed with Coach. His Dragon Slayer talk is obnoxious!!!

My fingers are crossed for you Colby!!!

I agree that Colby doesnt really seem into the game, but can you blame him when they keep trying to get rid of him??

Russell and Rob underestimate each other!!! They both can be sneaky!!!

Russell was stupid no matter what he did!!! I cant believe he gave Parvati the idle though!!

Oh man what an awesome blind side of Tyson!!! I cant believe Russell pulled it off!!! He is good!!

Poor Colby being called old!! He's not too old for me!!!

Oh sweet, Colby lives another day!!!! I am sorry to see James go, but he is injured!!

So on that note I need to say goodbye to Jinxy + Me. That is weird, but for some strange reason I never had James on the list!!

Thank you for playing.

PILLOW PETS REVIEW AND ***GIVEAWAY***

For any of you who have a Toddler, you probably watch The Sprout Channel ALL THE TIME!!!

When they play commercials, it is usually the same over and over again. So it's not surprising to get their jingles in your head!!!

The Pillow Pets Jingle is actually very cute!! "It's a Pillow, it's a Pet, it's a Pillow Pet!!"

My 4 yr old sings it all the time!!! He has been asking for one for awhile now. So as an Easter present, we bought him the White Bunny.

Now I haven't given it to him yet, but My Husband and I have played with it (Don't tell him!!)

I LOVE it!!! It is sooooo soft and cuddly!!

The animal has a strap that goes around the mid section which when strapped makes the pillow have legs.

When turned into a pillow, it's about the same size as a standard pillow!!

There are many different animals to choose from. The Lamb and Duck are two of my other favorites.

The cost for a Pillow Pet is $19.95 for one and $15.95 for each additional. That is a 20% savings!

The shipping costs were about $8 for me, which is not bad at all, and it came in within one week!!

Now for the best part. My new friend Kathy has graciously offered one Pillow Pet of your choosing to one of my readers!!!

I am very excited for the winner. This is truly a great product, and I hope you love it as much as I do!!!

There are two things you must do to enter this giveaway.
