The Awakening Book Review

Is silence the same thing as deception? Is forgetting the same thing as denial? What if no one ever knew your secrets...is it still a secret? These questions and many more are explored as readers are thrown into the seemingly ordinary world of Meg Richards. But like most things in life, nothing is ever as it seems.

The Awakening is a story of courage, redemption, and discovery. Meet Meg Richards, a rather ordinary working mother who wakes up to discover how truly undiscovered she really is. As she begins to unravel her relationships, she discovers that being "real" might just be the key to her own redemption. Surrounded by people who are more interested in creating an image for themselves as opposed to just being themselves, she realizes that in order for her life to change, she must first understand that being perfect is not the key to happiness. She must also face the reality of her relationship with her husband, Craig. Her perceptions, her memories, and all of her relationships will be challenged as Meg tries to put her life back together, piece-by-piece. An unseen force is at play and will not stop until she remembers.

A journey to the past will unlock these secrets and she will never be the same again.

"I am very intrigued with the human spirit and finding what it is that stands in our way of finding peace, as well as making peace, with ourselves, with others, with life itself," Anne says. "I always been interested in the residual effects of the big decisions we make in life. When we try to simply forget painful memories in our life, what happens? Can you even do that? When we hide from the truth, how do we even know what is real anymore? The Awakening is an examination of all of those decisions.

This is Meg Richards story, but is universal to anyone's quest for an understanding of who they are and how they got to this point in their life."

OK, I have to admit that I was unsure of this book. At first it seemed a little too intense for me.

I was 100% wrong!!! This book was a real page turner. I couldn't put it down!!

Even though my life is not really like Megs in many ways (my Husband is not abusive for one) I could find a lot of parallels between our two lives.

I love the way the Author makes you feel one emotion towards a character, and then changes that emotion five pages later!!!

The problems the characters overcome are so realistic, they are scary. I could actually see myself saying and doing a lot of the things the characters do.

There are a couple flash backs and dreams that take place, but the Author writes them so well, you don't skip a beat and you understand what is happening.

I normally do not give a rating to a book, but this book deserves 5 out of 5 stars!!

I highly recommend reading The Awakening!! This is a true love story.
