Oh those pesky Holiday's are right around the corner. If you are anything like me, you are already stressing over all of the things you need to do and all the of the entertaining to commence.  The baking, the buying, the decorating, the wrapping, it's never ending!  I have a lot of traditional Holiday recipes I use each year, but this year I am trying out some new baking ideas!

Ben and I wanted to make our own cannolis.  We found a couple of recipes we thought would be yummy, and we went crazy making them our own!  We hit our local Price Chopper for all of the ingredients we needed.  My store is well organized, and set up to make finding everything easily.

We started with pancake mix (any brand will work) and thinned it down more using a lot of milk.  We added some sugar to make the batter sweeter too.  This made it a runny consistency so it would spread easily in the pan.  We cooked it to look and be similar to a cannoli or crepe, and set it aside.

We also made our own cannoli mix.  It took a couple tries, but we got it to where we wanted it.  It was a very simple recipe we used-

1 egg
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons each of butter, vegetable oil
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon each of  baking powder and salt
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoon each of distilled white vinegar and chilled water
2 teaspoons cocoa powder

Sift the flour with baking soda and salt. In a bowl stir together the egg, sugar, butter and oil till well blended. Add the flour to this along with the vinegar and mix well. Add the water a little at a time until you get a thin pancake like batter.  We found we needed to use more water then listed.

Heat a griddle to medium heat. Take 1/2 tablespoon of batter, place it into middle of the griddle and spread it with the back of a ladle with a light hand into about 4 inches circle. Let fry for about 2 minutes. Turn and fry for 1 more minute. Flip again and place a wooden cooking spoons handle and roll the hot cannoli onto it. Take it off into a place. Let it cool.

After the pancakes were made, we needed a filling.  What's better then peanut butter!  We used Jif peanut butter (yummy,) cream cheese, powdered sugar, and some milk.  Mixed it all together until it was a whipped consistency.  I did not use a recipe for this, but here is what I roughly did for measurements-

4 Tablespoons Jif peanut butter
2 Tablespoons cream cheese
1 Cup powdered sugar
1 Cup milk

I mixed the Jif, cream cheese and powdered sugar, then slowly added the milk.  I whipped it in the kitchen aide mixer until it was fluffy.

I wanted to top the two different cannolis with whipped cream, so I made my own!  If you don't have heavy cream, you can use milk, it just takes a little longer to make.  Here is the recipe I used-

1/2 Cup Water
10 oz Gelatin
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 Tsp Vanilla
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar

Start by warming the gelatin in the water until well blended.  Take off the heat and add the milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar.  Whisk for at least two minutes.  Then put in fridge.  It will take about two hours to set, and every 10 or 20 minutes you should re-whisk the mix.

Once everything was ready, we filled the cannolis.  They still looked like they were missing something, so I channeled my inner Elvis, and added fresh cut bananas on top and a little chocolate sauce.

Both ways (pancake and cannoli) turned out absolutely delicious!! The best part was that I didn't have to spend a ton of money to make these.  I was able to get all the ingredients at my Price Chopper, and I also was able to get supplies for my table centerpiece!!  Yes, they have everything you could need to make the perfect Holiday feast!!  That's one #HolidayAdvantEdge!

Each year I try to come up with new and creative centerpieces.  Price Chopper has a beautiful array of flowers to choose from.  Here are the pretty ones I picked, and I got all of them for $15 total!!

I mixed them all up, and put them in a vase I had.  I also tied a ribbon to the vase to make it more festive!!

When I was at my local Price Chopper, I just had to hit the seasonal aisle too.  There is always so much that I want to get!!

I kept thinking to myself, I want a candy display on my table to go along with the flowers, so I went crazy and bought a bunch of things!!

I bought a cookie container, that is reusable (the best part!!)  I started by adding some tissue paper in the bottom.

Then I filled it with some of my favorite treats!!

Once my candy bowl was ready, I set it up with the flowers.  Look at how pretty this is!!

I can't wait to show off my display to all my friends and family!!

Thank you to Price Chopper and #CollectiveBias for working with me on this post and helping to make my holidays more festive!

Happy Holidays everyone!
