When I was young, Toys R Us was the best place in the world. I loved to check out all the new toys and games. Now my wonderland is Home Shows!!! My how times change!!
After buying our house, Ben and I spent a ton of time painting and remodeling what we could afford to do. Now we change things and keep updating on a slower pace, but we still have a blast doing it.
Changing something as simple as a light fixture or a rug can transform a room.
This past weekend I got to attend the New England Home Show and check out Mohawk Rugs SmartStrand Stain Resistant Carpet. I have to admit, I was VERY impressed!!!

We were given a square of the carpet to feel and boy is it a soft carpet!! With small kids and pets, I need a carpet that will cushion you against slips and falls.
We got to test out how the carpet can be cleaned with just water. The boys loved the fact that they got to spray kool aid on the rug. They are not allowed to do that at home!!
We watched as the rug was quickly wiped clean with just water. The SmartStrand carpet has permanent soil resistance. So for the life of your carpet, you will never have a stain!! A must have with kids.
Another terrific feature of the SmartStrand rug is that you can get it in a large variety of colors and designs. You are not stuck with a plain old sterile color.
We are in the process of remodeling the kids play room. The room use to be a spare bedroom, so I loved the bright yellow paint we had. Now I know the boys want more manly colors!! A new rug is needed as well.
The SmartStrand rug averages between $3-$6 a square foot. That is a really good price and with in our spending budget for the room.

Oh and not to drop names but guess who is involved with the tour and who we got to meet. Taniya Nayak that's who!! I have been watching her for years on HGTV and now she is on Restaurant Impossible with Chef Robert Irvine!! She was so friendly and sweet. Doug ran right up to her and gave her a hug!!
We learned that Taniya and her Husband own 10 restaurants on top of all the shows Taniya designs for!! How do they have the time! Her Husband runs the restaurants and she gets to decorate them. I would love to have her come over here and decorate my house!!!
We also got to meet Chef Ben Lacey from Tastings Wine Bar and Bistro in Foxboro, MA. He served us Bostons famous Baked Beans made the way they are supposed to be made. They were quite tasty!!
I didn't get to meet him but JD Roberto from The Better Show was there as well!! I did get to watch him tape a segment about Boston's favorite dish.
All and all the Home Show was a mix of fun, information and celebrities!!! It made for a perfect Saturday!!
