Don't Let Your Mechanic Pick Your Pocket Book Review

I was recently given the opportunity to review “Don’t let you mechanic pick your pocket!”
written by George A. Moyer. As a young female, I often feel like the mechanics are trying to take
advantage of my lack of car knowledge. I always call my father for help but I know that I will have to learn how to handle this problem myself.

This book gives the reader great tips to stop the mechanic from overcharging you. Moyer says
that if you are a women bring a man with you, even if you don’t know any to grab one off the street. Even if the man has no knowledge of the mechanics of cars the shop will assume he does and will give you a better deal.

Moyer also says to simply ask to see the part that they took out of your car, this will make them
nervous and more likely to do appropriate repairs on your vehicle. On top of all the great tips, Moyer also gives you a list of problems that could arise in your car and what the solution could be, a dictionary of parts, maps and pictures of where certain parts are and top ten lists of the most important and least important repairs.

After reading Moyers book I feel more confident that I could walk in to a repair shop and not be
taken advantage of. I strongly recommend this book for all drivers and car owners, no matter how much experience you have the tips he gives could save you a lot of time and frustrations!
