Frustrating Day!!

**This post is a little personal with medical information.  It might not be suitable for all ages**

As most of you know, I have two kids, and I had a lot of pregnancy problems.  Both boys were born at less then 29 weeks, and weighed 1 lb 7 oz, and 2 lb 2 oz respectively!!

When I had Ben Jr, I crashed on the operating table, and I had an emergency c-section.  While removing Ben, my uterus became inverted (turned inside out.)  Some of the lining of my uterus, spilled over other organs. This caused a condition called endometriosis.  When I would have my period, where ever the lining of my uterus was (including small intestine and stomach) would bleed and cramp up.  This is an extremely painful condition.  I have had two surgeries to try and remove what they can, but unfortunately because of where it is, they can not remove all of it, and so the pain is always there.  Once a month, during my menstruation it would become unbearable.

About a year ago, the doctors put me on a drug to make my body think I was going through menopause.  By going on this drug, I would no longer get my periods, so in theory the pain would go away.  The shot did help dull the pain, stopped my periods and it prevented any more pregnancies.  But it also caused me to gain 40+ lbs, that no matter what I do, I can not get rid of.

So last week, we decided to try something new to help prevent any more weight gain, and hopefully give me a shot at loosing some while still keeping me from anymore pregnancies, and keeping the pain at bay.  We decided on an I.U.D (intrauterine device.)  This little plastic bow like device is inserted in the uterus, and can be kept in place for up to 5 years.

To me, not having to get painful shots every three months, and being able to loose weight were the big plus'!!!

Today I went in to have the procedure.  After sitting in the waiting room for over an hour (with Doug) I was called in.  Again we waited.  This time 30 minutes for the doctor to come.  I asked a couple questions that were important to me.  "Will this hurt?" and "Are there any restrictions for activities?"

I was told that I would get some cramping that would subside with in a half hour, and that there are no restrictions.  I can get up and go!!

So the procedure started.  I won't go into details, but I will tell you that I was in extreme pain.  It was so bad that I had to bite my tongue not to scream out.  Ben Sr was with me, and knew that I was in a lot of pain.  We both told the doctor, and she said it was almost over, and everything would be fine.

After everything was in place, I was told to rest for a little bit.  The cramping would subside with in a half hour, and I might feel light headed for a couple minutes.  I stayed down for about 15 minutes, and then headed home.

I have been home for three and a half hours now, and am still in a lot of pain.  The cramping is the worst I have ever had.  Remember, with the endometriosis, my cramping is 10 times worse then the normal female.

I called the doctors office an hour ago to find out what I should do (all instructions for the I.U.D say that cramping goes away after a half hour, and if it doesn't call your doctor)

I am sitting here still waiting for a call back.  The doctors office is now closed to incoming calls.

I am sooooo frustrated with my doctors office.

OK, they called back (1 hour 15 minutes later.)  According to them, the cramping can last for awhile (no set time frame) all though they told me before the procedure, less then a half hour for the cramps.

I have already taken as much ibuprofen as I am allowed to, and it hasn't done anything.

The doctor told me if the pain persists, or gets worse, go to the hospital.

I understand that each person has different reactions to meds, but to be told one thing, and then when that doesn't happen, be told another thing, makes me very mad.

Sorry, I just had to vent.
