Tellurian Baby Products Review

Tellurian was founded by Jane Leeves and Ron Lewis. Jane Leeves has made her mark in the world of television, theatre and film. TV audiences know her as “Daphne Moon” in the long running hit series Frasier for which she won a SAG award and was nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe. She can currently be seen as “Joy” on the new TV Land series Hot in Cleveland. Ron Lewis is the founder and president of Cosmetic Technologies one of the countries leading contract manufacturers of skin and hair care products. In his 35 year career he has been involved in creating thousands of skin and hair care product including many nationally and internationally known brands.

Q. What prompted you to start a line of Baby Products?
A. Ron
Well, going from 0 to 4 grandchildren in a 24 month period, having 2 of our staff members have babies in the same time period as well as my neighbor it seemed from my perspective that there was a second “baby boom” going on. It really prompted me take a serious look at the baby category. There was also a big expose in the Washington Post a year or so ago that revealed that there were a lot of questionable ingredients being used in baby care product. I felt the need and opportunity was big enough to do something about it.

Once I became a mother myself, I naturally started paying a lot more attention to what was going in my children as well as on them. I’ve tried a lot of different products with my kids. Once I got to know Ron I was convinced we could create something really special.

Q. How did you meet?
A. Jane
We were introduced by a mutual friend Vicki McCarty.

A. Ron
Vicki is a personal manager and knows a number of celebrities. A product line we had developed was accepted by one of the shopping channels. They were looking for a spokesperson so I called Vicki who suggested I meet with Jane. When I explained to Jane the time commitment she said she wasn’t willing to spend that much time away from her children. I was really touched and impressed by the priority she gave her children and family. When I thought of creating a baby line I knew Jane would be the perfect partner.

Q. What is unique about Tellurian Baby?
A. Ron
It stands out almost as much for what it doesn’t have as for what it does. The objective was to create products that were scientifically / dermatologically advanced and at the same time as pure and natural as possible. What evolved in the process is a redefinition of what natural skin care means. We are actually using the natural components of the skin to maintain the optimum condition of the skin. Although it has taken many years of research the concept in many ways is quite simple. We’ve referred to this as “skin care based on the nature of the skin itself”.

My biggest concern was making sure that we weren’t using any of the bad stuff and that the products were pure and gentle and effective as we could make them. I also wanted them to be as enjoyable to use as possible for both mom and baby. No matter how advanced they may be, if they don’t smell good, feel good and work well no one will want to use them, at least not more than once.

Q. What do you hope to achieve with your venture?
A. Jane
Besides making the best possible products, products that we can be proud of, Tellurian is really a vehicle for us to try to give back and hopefully create positive change in the lives of those less fortunate, particularly children.

I am very conscience as to what I put in and on my kids. With all the recalls that happen on a daily basis, it makes me very nervous what my kids are getting.

When I was contacted by Tellurian, and heard that they are an all natural company making baby products, I said I would give it a go.

I love the smell and how the cream coats but isn't extremely greasy. It also kept my sons diaper rash away!!

Tellurian Baby Lotion

The ultimate moisturizer for baby’s delicate skin. Contains elements of the skins own Natural Moisturizing Factors which work within the skin to attract and bind moisture. Formulated to replicate and restore lipids naturally present in the skin that in addition to regulating moisture levels also serve to enhance the skins crucial barrier properties. Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and a rich combination of botanical extracts soothe and nourish.

Leaves baby’s skin incredibly soft and supple. Mom will love this one too!

The smell is a tad bit medicine like, but the lotion absorbs into the skin and feels great.

Tellurian Baby Shampoo

Formulated with only the finest and most gentle cleansing ingredients. Panthenol (Vitamin B5) and Rice Amino Acids help to moisturize and condition the hair. Aloe Vera along with extracts of Green Tea, Chamomile and Mallow soothe, nourish and protect hair and scalp.

The Shampoo smells great!! It has the baby smell that you just can't beat. It cleaned the boys hair nicely and when a little got in their eyes, they didn't cry!!

Tellurian Baby Body Wash

Only the finest naturally derived cleansing ingredients have been used to create this exceptionally pure and gentle Body Wash. This extra mild, non-drying formulation will not disrupt the skin’s natural barrier function that is so vital to maintaining its optimum moisture content and protection from the environment.

The Body Wash smelt a little medicine like, but produces a lot of bubbles (which all kids love) It took off marker (which is always a pass/fail test for me!!)

Tellurian Baby Oil

These exceptionally light, natural and versatile Baby Oils have been specially formulated to mimic and replenish the oils/lipids naturally present in the skin. These lipids consist primarily of sterols, ceramides and essential fatty acids. Together they play a major role in maintaining the critical barrier function and optimum moisture content of the skin. The most natural approach to preventing dry skin and alleviating the symptoms of eczema, psoriasis and cradle cap. It will leave Baby’s skin incredibly soft and supple.

I was sent all three types of Baby Oil. Out of the three, I liked the smell of the Scented one the best. All three works very well and moisturizes the skin.

The magnitude of deprivation facing children throughout the world can be overwhelming. Rather than be intimidated by the statistics we were inspired to do something about it. We named our effort Tellurian. One definition of Tellurian is “an inhabitant of earth”. We chose this because we felt it reflected our belief in the interconnectedness of all mankind and the humanitarian motivation for our venture. We believe that children everywhere deserve to live a life of opportunity, dignity and hope.
